Spicy for the Summer

No, I still do not have internet. However, I am unexpectedly in an office late this evening and able to post about the delicious sandwich I made last night. Click here to learn how to easily make a Chipotle Grilled Chicken and Avocado sandwich. Sounds great, right? I actually substituted chipotle chile power for cayenne pepper and the grill for a saute pan without any problem. Enjoy!

Wedding Wednesday: Lobstah!

It seems like almost every wedding these days has a theme to it – some more subtle than others. One of the first ways couples share their themes with their invitees is via printed collateral like Save the Dates and Invitations.
A reader shared these creative invitations for a Maine summer wedding with us. What a cute way to get guests excited about this New England affair. The actual invitation information is printed on the lobster tags. The outer packaging of the box was really cute, but we had to omit that to protect personal information.

On the Grill...

Here is a great rub recipe for grilled chicken thighs. Once the heat hits the rub, the brown sugar starts to caramelize, creating a delicious crunch on the outside of the chicken.

Sweet and Spicy Grilled Chicken Thighs
4 tablespoons dark brown sugar

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon chili powder

3/4 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle chile pepper or red pepper flakes

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1.5 pounds skinless, boneless chicken thighs

Mix together all ingredients, rub thoroughly over chicken thighs, and grill for 20 minutes or until done.
Enjoy!

Primary Colors

First of all, I would like to say that I finally downloaded all my pictures, including ones of my new apartment, the Preakness Party, and a lovely wedding in Connecticut. However, I have no internet service in said apartment. And so, I am presenting these super cute invitations from Kate Spade since I have to do this during my lunch hour. I am throwing a co birthday party in August, and once we saw these nothing else would do. And so they had to be special ordered by a stationery store in Richmond and are now in the mail, (hopefully) looking wonderful with navy blue text. I am so excited to see them!

Hot hot hot...

There is quite a heat wave running on the east coast. When it is this warm my mom likes to have deviled eggs and ice tea for breakfast. Last night my boss drew a cold bath and drank icy milk in it at 3am. I can only manage cereal for dinner. So what's your plan to beat the heat?

Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Shower Placecards

These BlumeBuds are a great idea for your spring or summer bridal shower, bridesmaids’ luncheon, or birthday party. I saw them the other day at a shower, and they are even cuter in person. At $9 for a 6-pack, they are totally reasonable and come in so many colors that they are bound to match the palette for any event!

Wine Charms Revisited

I am loving this kitschy take on “wine charms” from Martha. Simply take a variety of colored, wide rubber bands and use a fine tipped Sharpie to write your guests' names on them AFTER putting them over the glass. If you do it beforehand, clearly the name will stretch out to an illegible size. What a great idea for a casual get together!

Stationery of the Week

While shopping for invitations to my birthday party, I came across Boatman Geller. With clean classic lines, the stationery can be pretty and feminine without being too fussy. To the left is an example that is a bit more on the no nonesense side, but their are plenty of options to fulfill the needs to the post college preppy girl who wants to be fun and whimsical while acknowledging the passage of time : ) Happy browsing! - LG
