Phrasing
When I was growing up there were certain things young ladies didn't do: pee, puke, poop. They either used the bathroom or had to be sick (or throw up, under dire circumstances). It seems that these restrictions no longer apply since I hear girls saying these things all the time. Were you allowed to use these words when you were young? Do/will you let your kids use them?

My husband and I had this conversation recently. I clearly remember that it was "going to the bathroom" or maybe even "go potty", but I don't think we ever used any other words. I would much rather M&L use "going to the bathroom" or "going to be sick" than the alternatives & that is what we will try to teach. I do find that the word "poop" flies out of my mouth every 2 minutes so I guess I better change that habit first! : )
We definitely were NOT allowed to use those terms. "Shut up" was also a forbidden phrase in our household and highly punishable!
I was not allowed to say "suck" or "shut up". I think we said tee-tee, but I can't remember about poop. Fart was a big no-no, but two of the prissiest girls in my Sunday School class were talked about farts a couple Sundays ago. They're five! I was horrifed- I mean let's a least use "toot", ladies!
Growing up, we used some of the same child-like words as Samma mentioned. I think it's going to be an uphill battle today more than ever--there's just less social emphasis on propriety and manners. Certainly worth a try with children, though, so that they at least learn context--i.e. there are certain things you should never say....in public or in mixed or older company!
