Baking Soda: It's Magic

Recently MC posted a really interesting solution for cleaning silver. It involved baking soda and boiling water (you will have to read her blog to find out more) and reminded me that baking soda is really a fantastic item. Here are some more great tips, courtesy of Real Simple magazine. My favorite innovative use is as an exfoliant. Although they don't mention it here, I have read elsewhere that this is a really good way to reduce blackheads. And best of all, baking soda is cheap, cheap, cheap, and it doesn't hurt the environment. - LG

Baking soda and vinegar will get out almost any burn or stain on your pots and pans too. Say you have something like a cookie sheet that has a bad burn on it. If you soak it in baking soda and vinegar and then scrub it with one of those little green nylony things, most, if not all, of the burn will be removed. :)

Thanks for linking to me! Baking soda is also great for sunburn, depending on the size of the burn, you can either soak in a bath with a little baking soda added or apply compresses soaked in cool water and baking soda.

If I have a very badly burned pan or pyrex baking dish, a lil baking soda and water combined with an over night soaking and it will be clean as a whistle the next day. No scrubbing required. I also clean my stainless steel sink with BS and a scrubby. Works great and is eco-friendly.
