In or Out?

Cupcake wedding cakes...in, out, or a new classic?

PS- These are from the famous Magnolia Bakery in Manhattan.

Love Magnolias, but think you should save the cupcake towers for showers and other events. Just my humble opinion. =)

I think cupcake towers can be great for events like graduation parties, children's birthdays, or showers like MMM suggested. I would never use them for a wedding. Magnolias is great, but I visited Trophy in Seattle this summer and I think their red velvet takes the cake. ;)

Sigh. I was considering cupcakes for my wedding, but that photo does give me pause. I just don't want something that's stiff and hard and doesn't taste good. And I've never had a cupcake that didn't taste GOOD.

I have to admit that I really like them. I was just curious if people think they are going to be dated soon.

I like the idea of the cupcakes, but think I'd use different colors for the frosting to make it a little more interesting.

I think cupcakes should be reserved for an end-of-evening treat - not the main cake event. Providing your guests with a midnight snack as they depart is a lovely touch, and often very appreciated by those who indulged in perhaps a few too many after dinner drinks. For this, cupcakes would be perfect!

LG- I love cupcakes too, but already think they're dated. I live in NYC and people have been doing the cupcake tower at weddings for years. At this point it's really overdone. Just my humble opinion.

I love cupcakes - love them! But I am really tired of the cupcake tree for weddings. It still has it's place, but I'm totally ready for the next "big thing"!
