Worse than the dentist...

Packing has always been hard for me. In a very exciting turn of events, I have been traveling a lot over the past six months. This is both wonderful (when I travel) and awful (when I have to pack.) This week is going to be a particular challenge because I am going to New York on Thursday for a black tie event, and Miami on Friday for a bachelorette party. (And yes, I know this cool and I have no room to complain.) Because of this, I was particularly interested in Kimberly Cutter's article, "Pack Like a Pro" in the May issue of Harper's-Bazaar Magazine. One tip I already use and find very helpful is the strategy of picking either black or brown accessories and building your wardrobe about that. However, I was wondering if any of you have any ideas for packing, especially with the new regulations regarding liquids. At this point I always end up with a disaster on my hands, and a frazzled outlook before I even reach the airport! - LG

I use a lightweight over-the-shoulder overnight bag that easily unzips to lay flat when it is completely opened. All of the interior pockets are clear, when you open it for the snoopy airport security ( I actually was COMMENDED by airport security once for this bag!!). It is large enough to fit my hairdryer, a flatiron, small shampoo bottles and all toiletries, plus the extra pair of panties and bra I always include just in case my checked luggage gets delayed. The guards get a special kick out of those, of course.

Haven't had issues with liquids yet, but surprisingly haven't had to fly in the past few months.

Oooh, that sounds like a great bag. Do you have any idea where I can find one?

My bag is put out by someone called Ricardo Beverly Hills. I was pleasantly surprised to find this link to the same bag that I have

I found it for sale here

This site has photos of the bag's interior. one of the things I love about it is that I can totally unzip the bag, so that it will hang "wide open" in the hotel closet where I can see all of my stuff through the clear pockets.

There are few colors to choose from, and the kicker is that it is very inexpensive. Mine was a gift given to me years ago, and I still love it!

oh-- you may want to confirm that this bag still has the over-the-shoulder strap. I can't tell from the photo... and that's one of the things that makes it so easy to travel with.
